TRAI Allows Telecos To Offer Combo Vouchers

TRAI allows telecom service providers to offer Combo Vouchers under
the Telecom Consumers Protection Regulation, 2012- fourth amendment.
Combo Vouchers will provide monetary value and tariff concession
through a single voucher.
The Combo Vouchers which are in physical form will bear a BLUE color
band whereas the TopUp Vouchers will bear a GREEN color band.

TRAI also directs operators to mention the terms and conditions of the
offer attached in the Combo Vouchers so that consumers can make an
informed choice.

BSNL To Hike National Roaming Rates

Pan India Mobile Service Provider BSNL to charge Standard Roaming
Rates instead of Reduced Roaming Rates from 26th November, 2012.

Currently, BSNL Reduced Roaming Charge is as low as 1.2p/sec (Per
Second Plan), 59p/Min (Per Minute Plan) or 60p/Min (General Plan).

From 26th November, 2012 all 2G/ 3G Prepaid customers of these plans
will be charge as per Standard National Roaming Rates: Rs.1/Min for
Incoming and Local Outgoing within visited Circle and Rs 1.5/Min for
STD Outgoing Calls.

Outgoing Local & National SMS rates is revised to Rs 1.5/SMS and
Incoming SMS is Free.

TRAI Limits Processing Fee On Mobile TopUp Vouchers

Telecom regulator TRAI on Monday, 01 October, 2012 said that
Processing Fee levied on TopUp Vouchers should not exceed 10% of
maximum retail price of coupon or Rs. 3, whichever is lett. This
amendment of Telecom Tariff Order would provide relief to prepaid
mobile users recharging with lower denomination of TopUp vouchers.

90% of customers in India use Prepaid Mobile Service. Processing Fee
is included in the MRP of a Recharge Coupon used by Prepaid Mobile
Users.

At present, Processing Fee charged for TopUps of Rs. 20 and above is
Rs. 3 while for TopUps below Rs. 20, it is Rs. 2.
